Acorn Squash
 Acorn Squash | | | | | When selecting Acorn squash, look for a uniform, dark green color, nice weight, and hard rinds. This variety of hard squash is excellent when baked in its own shell and makes a beautiful presentation on the plate. Acorn squash is saturated fat-free, and sodium and cholesterol free. It is low in calories and has significant amounts of Vitamins A and C. Classified as a "winter squash", they are available year-round. All winter varieties are harvested at maturity. As with all winter squash, look for weight in relation to size as the quality is much more difficult to determine.
Handling tips: Never refrigerate any hard squash. This will alter the flavor and cause the squash to deteriorate. Display between 50 - 55 degrees and never mist. Hard squash have a great shelf stability when handled properly. Typically, 30 - 180 days shelf life on the product can be expected. Back to the Products page.
