Green Peppers

Green Peppers

Peppers not only add "zing" to your favorite foods, they also add a lot of Vitamin C! Green Bell pepper is at the immature stage. They represent the largest percentage of sales in the pepper category. Florida, California, Georgia, New Jersey, and imports are the primary sources for peppers. Florida peaks from November through June, while Californias' crop is heaviest from May through November. Peppers are available year-round and supplemented from imports.

Handling tips: Temperatures higher than 50 degrees encourage ripening and accelerate decay. Ideal display and storage temperature is between 45 - 50 degrees. Mist lightly. Peppers love humidity. Typical shelf life: 8 - 10 days.
